This image was taken just before sunset at Isle Ornsay on the Isle of
Skye. I was perched at the edge of the road about 20ft above the beach, desperately
trying to shield the camera (on a lightweight tripod) from the wind. Luckily
the wind died for a moment or two and I was able to bracket three exposures.
The lighthouse was built by Robert Louis Stephenson's grandfather; David
Stephenson. It doesn't seem to have a name of its own.
Sometimes you just get lucky. This shot of the hotel at Isle
Ornsay was taken from the front step of my mum-in-law's house. The light and weather
changes from minute to minute on Skye - I couldn't believe that the rainbows stayed around
long enough for me to change lenses.
The lighthouse is to the right of this shot, the hotel to the
left. The inlet is tidal - you can walk to the island at low tide.
We were looking for otters. At least I was. Kandy didn't care.
Mind you, I've seen some equally rickety craft pottering around the
sound at Ilse Ornsay.
This is Deb's favourite shot. Dunvegan
Castle has lovely gardens.
This was shot on the way to Talisker. It is actually nowhere near
Talisker but that is where we were headed.
This was shot from the abandoned shed shown above. You would think that with a view like that someone would rent it!
Still on our way to Talisker. Seems to me that I'm
driving a long way for a single malt whisky, considering that I am in Scotland.
Nearly there now.
Just past Talisker lies the seat of the Chiefs of the Clan MacLeod. What happened to Talisker?
Another shot of the island. This scene greeted us in the mornings
when we opened the curtains. Nice huh? |
